BAKIRKOY
SQUARE
The Bakırköy Square design project is located at the end of Incirli Street, a busy street with heavy traffic and pedestrian circulation. The two metro stations were analyzed and designed as a transparent structure forming the main spine of the design, guiding visitors towards the White Pavilion through accompanying cypress trees. Two alternative paths were designed to reach the green pedestrian axis and meet at a gathering platform.

The former bus station area, now located at the intersection of Kartaltepe Neighborhood and the square, was redesigned as a gathering place for locals. The slope area, with north edge at +22.00 and south edge at +18.00, was designed as a recreational space for individuals between 8-18 years old. The linear green zone along the former TCDD railway and the underground market area were renamed to reflect their historical significance.
